Journalist Rajko Živković passes away in Sarajevo

Journalist and editor Rajko Živković has passed away in Sarajevo. Born in 1952, Živković was part of the generation that elevated the newspaper ‘Oslobođenje’ to professional prominence in former Yugoslavia.

During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Živković remained with the ‘Oslobođenje’ editorial staff despite sniper fire and shelling. His wartime contributions included writing, editing, distributing newspapers on the streets of Sarajevo, and transporting journalists and photo reporters to the field. He also served as an early collaborator for the news agency Onasa.

Živković was a co-founder of the Serbian Civic Council (SGV) in 1994, an organization dedicated to equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he served as secretary and later as vice president. He was known for his commitment to honoring victims of the Kazane crimes, a site where he himself had been taken during the war.
