Journalist Óscar Mario Beteta dies at age 70
Mexican journalist and radio broadcaster Óscar Mario Beteta died on September 9, 2026, at the age of 70, following a long battle with cancer. He passed away at the Hospital ABC in Santa Fe.
Beteta had a distinguished career spanning over three decades, specializing in political, economic, and financial analysis. Before his media career, he worked as a stockbroker for institutions including Banamex, Banca Serfin, and Multibanco Comermex. He was a pioneer in stock market analysis on television, notably with Canal Once, and hosted the long-running program ‘En los Tiempos de la Radio’ on Grupo Fórmula for 30 years.
In addition to his work in radio and television, he was a columnist for El Universal and El Financiero. He is survived by his wife, Araceli Peraza, and four children: Emilio, Leonora, Jerónimo, and Alonso.
