Journalist Sotiris Triantafyllopoulos has passed away at the age of 71. He was the brother of the well-known journalist and publisher Makis Triantafyllopoulos.
Triantafyllopoulos was discovered unconscious in his home in the center of Aigio on Sunday morning. Local residents, concerned after not seeing him for several days, alerted the police. Emergency services arrived at the scene, and he was transported to Aigio Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.
Triantafyllopoulos had a long career in mass media, working across print, electronic, radio, and television. He previously served as a staff member and journalist within the General Directorate of Information at ERT. In recent years, he had withdrawn from active journalism due to serious health issues.
Authorities from the Aigio Crime Investigation Division examined the residence, but preliminary findings indicate no signs of criminal activity. His body is expected to be transferred to Rio for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
