Yamid Amat hospitalized in critical condition in Bogotá

Renowned Colombian journalist Yamid Amat, 84, is in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Fundación Santa Fe in Bogotá. The medical institution reported that he requires 'comprehensive and multidisciplinary management' and is currently under a 'reserved prognosis.'

Amat was reportedly hospitalized after experiencing a sudden health decline while traveling from Anapoima to Bogotá. While the hospital has not released a specific diagnosis, reports suggest the hospitalization may be linked to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or a systemic infection.

His son, Yamid Amat Serna, expressed gratitude on social media for the messages of support received by the family during this difficult time. Amat is a legendary figure in Colombian media, with a career spanning over six decades in radio, television, and print, including his roles at Caracol Radio and as the founder of the news program CM&.
