Journalists allege assault by Delhi Police in Saket

Two Muslim women journalists, Shaheen Khan and Nafeesa Khan of 4PM News Network, have alleged they were brutally assaulted by Delhi Police while covering a hospital inauguration in Saket. The event was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The journalists claim they were detained after attempting to question the Chief Minister, subsequently dragged to the Saket police station, and beaten with batons and sticks. Shaheen Khan alleged that the violence intensified after officers identified them as Muslim. Viral footage reportedly showed the sisters with visible injuries and appearing unconscious.

As of three days after the incident, the journalists claim that Delhi Police have failed to register a First Information Report (FIR) and are instead pressuring them and their families to settle the case and remove specific names from their complaint. Delhi Police have denied the allegations of assault.
