Journalists' associations in Turkey hold discussions on media roles

In Antalya, the Antalya Journalists Association and Akdeniz University Faculty of Communication organized a panel titled “Examining the Today and Tomorrow of Journalism.” The event featured discussions on professional responsibilities, the sacred nature of the profession, and the role of journalists as a mirror to society. Akdeniz University Rector Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan emphasized that journalism is central to democracy and public trust, noting the risks posed by the rapid spread of information before facts are fully established.

In Aydın, the Aydın Journalists Association (AGC) leadership, led by President İnan Gül, conducted several official visits to discuss the importance of local media and city development. The AGC board met with Aydın Governor Dr. Osman Varol to discuss press activities and the role of local media in informing the public. Additionally, the association met with Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu and Adnan Menderes University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent to exchange views on regional projects and potential cooperation between the press and academic institutions.
