Dominican Republic hosts diverse literary and cultural events
The Dominican Republic is hosting several significant literary and cultural events, primarily centered around the International Book Fair and various book launches in Santo Domingo.
At the International Book Fair, several authors are presenting new works. Rosa Escoto released ‘Fui una de ellas’, a testimonial work regarding adolescent pregnancy and rights. Young writer Félix Concepción introduced ‘Qué lo que con la literatura’, a project aimed at encouraging reading and writing among youth. Additionally, an exhibition dedicated to the legacy of national founder Juan Pablo Duarte is showcasing historical relics and biographical documents.
Other notable literary activities include the relaunch of Dajelis Rodríguez’s poetry book, ‘Catarsis: Huellas del Amor’, at the National Library. Journalist Francisco Tavárez is presenting ‘La conjura haitiana y la maldición dominicana’, a geopolitical analysis based on ten years of research. Furthermore, the Fundación Gente Brava launched its 2026 season with a panel titled ‘Verso y prosa: ¿Quién escribe la isla hoy?’, where writers discussed contemporary Dominican literature, gender representation, and the social responsibility of storytelling.
