Journalists in Burkina Faso organize blood donation drive

Journalists participating in a voluntary patriotic immersion program organized a blood donation drive in Ouagadougou on Monday, September 21, 2026. Conducted in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS), the initiative aims to bolster blood supplies for patients in health facilities.

The participants, who recently completed five days of training at the Police Academy, described the act as a practical application of the values of solidarity and patriotism instilled during their immersion. Organizers noted that the donation is particularly critical due to the prevalence of malaria and the ongoing need for blood to treat wounded individuals in the current security context, as well as for pregnant women and children.

Media professionals involved in the drive, including representatives from Horizon FM and L’Economiste du Faso, called on other citizens to donate blood regularly to support hospitals and those in critical need.
