Journalists perform musical theater tribute to Ismail Marzuki

Fifteen journalists from various Indonesian media outlets participated in a musical theater program titled ‘Fragmen Musikal Payung Fantasi’. Organized by Galeri Indonesia Kaya to celebrate its 13th anniversary, the initiative allowed reporters to step away from their editorial desks to perform on stage.

The 60-minute performance adapted stories from the ‘Payung Fantasi’ musical series on the Indonesia Kaya YouTube channel. The production focused on the life and works of legendary Indonesian composer Ismail Marzuki, covering his musical journey with Orkes Lief Java, his romance with Eulis, and his use of music to express independence sentiments. Under the direction of choreographer and director Pasha Prakasa, the participants underwent intensive training in vocal performance, character exploration, and choreography.
