Journées musicales de Carthage launches 11th edition in Tunisia

The 11th edition of the Journées musicales de Carthage (JMC) has launched in Tunis, running through October 10. The festival aims to transform into a professional hub to support music industries and provide an international platform for emerging artists.

The programming features 26 selected shows from 378 candidates, with performances spanning eight different venues, including the Cité de la Culture and Habib Bourguiba Avenue. Artists from 15 countries are participating, including representatives from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Senegal, Chad, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada, and Brazil. Syrian artist Faia Younan is scheduled to perform the closing concert.

A new initiative titled ‘Les Journées musicales de Carthage dans les prisons’ has been introduced, featuring five performances, including a show by residents of the El Mghira juvenile rehabilitation center. Additionally, the festival includes the OBOS (One Band, One Sound) project by Tunisian rapper VIPA, which blends hip-hop with a live brass band and choir.
