Journey invites Steve Perry lookalike Hugo Valenti to perform in Japan

During a performance at ‘THE GREATEST ROCK FUKUOKA’ on August 29, the rock band Journey invited Hugo Valenti to perform as a guest vocalist. Valenti, who fronts the tribute act ‘HUGO The Ultimate Journey Tribute’, performed the song ‘Faithfully’ alongside the band.

Valenti is noted for his striking physical and vocal resemblance to former Journey frontman Steve Perry. According to band members and historical accounts, Valenti was once considered as a potential replacement for Perry in the late 1990s, but the band's organization ultimately decided that his extreme similarity to Perry might be a detriment to the band's identity.

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain introduced Valenti to the audience, noting that the singer had traveled from New Jersey to Japan specifically for the event. The appearance sparked significant discussion among fans on social media, with some attendees initially mistaking his presence for a return by Steve Perry himself.
