Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium students to return to main building

Students of the Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium in Novi Sad are scheduled to return to their main school building this Monday. The return follows the completion of necessary repairs to a controversial dome that had previously forced students to attend classes across three different locations.

Novi Sad Mayor Žarko Mićin, accompanied by school director Radivoje Stojković and provincial officials, inspected the facility. Mićin stated that the works were completed ahead of the original October 15 deadline. Following a judicial expert assessment, the construction inspection sector lifted the ban on using the school's ceremonial hall, concluding that the main dome and recent works do not compromise the safety of the building.

To ensure continued safety, authorities will preventatively monitor and measure changes to the structure over the next six months. The renovation project was funded by the Provincial Government. Future plans include the restoration of the ceremonial hall, classroom upgrades, and improvements to the sports field in coordination with cultural heritage protection institutes.
