Jovanotti cancels Barletta concert following asbestos discovery

The Jova Summer Party tour has seen mixed results across Italy. A stop in Montesilvano was a major success, drawing over 30,000 attendees to the Music Arena and receiving praise from local officials for its organization.

However, the scheduled concert in Barletta for August 17 has been canceled. Following environmental sampling by Arpa Puglia, fragments of asbestos were discovered at the site of the former paper mill intended for the event. Although air dispersion tests showed no immediate fiber release, the local health authority (Asl) declared the site unsuitable for public safety. The discovery of asbestos fragments near the entrance raised concerns that the movement of 33,000 spectators could disturb hidden materials.

Organizers, Trident Music, are exploring the possibility of rescheduling the Barletta date in Bari for September 19. The cancellation has caused significant economic concern for local businesses in Barletta, including hotels and restaurants, which had prepared for the influx of tourists. The artist, Jovanotti, expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to fans who had already made travel arrangements.
