Jovanotti documentary premieres at Rome Film Festival

The documentary film ‘Lorenzo – L’incredibile avventura di Jovanotti’, directed by Dario Zonta and Carlo Zoratti, was presented at the Rome Film Festival. The project, which took seven years to complete, explores the life and music of Italian artist Lorenzo Cherubini, known as Jovanotti.

Cherubini noted that he intentionally relinquished control over the project to avoid creating a typical self-celebratory documentary. The film utilizes various formats, including rediscovered Super 8 footage, to depict his journey from childhood in Rome to his current life, including reflections on a serious bicycle accident in July 2023.

Rather than using traditional interviews, the filmmakers relied on Cherubini’s spontaneous openness. The artist described the experience as an emotional journey that touched upon his transition into his 60s and the enduring presence of his inner child. The film is scheduled for a special theatrical release from November 26 to December 2.
