Joy Behar absent from The View following injury

Joy Behar has been absent from the ABC talk show The View since October 1, 2026, missing her 84th birthday celebration. Her absence follows a backstage fall in which she reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder.

While previous reports suggested a return date of October 19, Behar did not appear in the Monday episode. Co-host Sunny Hostin previously noted that Behar was on the mend after catching a heel backstage. Behar has teased her recovery on air via other hosts, joking that recuperation takes longer at her age.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Behar also reflected on her nearly 30-year tenure with the program, noting that the current group of co-hosts maintains a good sense of humor and is not mean, contrasting them with past experiences on the show.
