Joy Behar claims no woman will be elected U.S. President

During a discussion on the ABC program ‘The View’, co-host Joy Behar asserted that a woman will never be elected President of the United States. Behar suggested that the American electorate would favor other demographic identities over gender, specifically stating, ‘I think this country will vote for an obese, Jewish, Black, homosexual before a woman.’

Guest host Star Jones supported this view, citing the unsuccessful presidential campaigns of Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton. In response, co-host Sara Haines argued that political success is not determined by identity alone. Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin offered a different prediction, stating she believes a woman will hold the presidency within the next 20 years.

Patrice Onwuka, vice president for economic policy at the Independent Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity, criticized the comments, attributing the hosts' perspective to an overemphasis on identity politics. She argued that previous female candidates failed due to their policies and personalities rather than their gender.
