Joyeuse Jungle ! animated film premieres in theaters

The animated adventure film ‘Joyeuse Jungle !’, directed by Latvian filmmaker Edmunds Jansons, is released in theaters on Wednesday, October 7. Aimed at children aged 6 and up, the film is inspired by a real family living in Venezuela during the 1950s near the Churún River and Mount Tepui.

The story follows nine-year-old Elizabeth, who travels from Caracas to join her parents in the tropical jungle for school holidays. After her father is injured and her mother leaves to take him to the hospital, Elizabeth is left to care for her four-year-old brother, Léo. The plot intensifies when Léo disappears while accompanied by a strange animal, leading Elizabeth into an adventure involving poachers.

The film is noted for its vibrant and colorful animation style, which is based on the artistic works of Latvian illustrator Elīna Brasliņa. The visual style is described as capturing the opulence of the tropical nature while maintaining a sense of its inherent dangers.
