Jozef Sopoliga appointed to lead Slovak education reform

Jozef Sopoliga, the long-time director of the Evangelical United School in Martin, has been appointed as the new head of education content reform at the Ministry of Education. He succeeds Martin Kríž in the role of Director of the Institute of Curriculum and Innovation in Education.

The reform, which is set to become mandatory for all primary schools starting in September, aims to improve the school system. Sopoliga noted that his motivation stems from his previous experience as Chairman of the Curriculum Council and his desire to continue the consistent educational policy maintained by successive ministers. He emphasized the importance of middle management and internal cooperation in achieving educational progress, even under budget constraints.
