J.P. Morgan to invest $200M in Paraguay sustainable forestry

J.P. Morgan Natural Capital has secured a $200 million commitment to launch a sustainable forestry platform in Paraguay. Announced by President Santiago Peña at the Paraguay Investment Forum NYC 2026, the initiative is a partnership between J.P. Morgan, Grupo Robinson, and Ganadera Vista Alegre.

Scheduled to begin capital deployment in the first quarter of 2027, the project aims to develop commercial forests, restore native woodlands, and generate value through timber production and carbon credits. The first phase will cover approximately 20,000 hectares.

The platform is designed to support Paraguay’s economic strategy of decentralizing growth by creating rural employment and fostering local industrialization through on-site timber processing.
