JP Nadda inaugurates Aarogya Manthan 2026 to mark health scheme milestones

Union Minister JP Nadda inaugurated Aarogya Manthan 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, marking the eighth anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the fifth anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

Organized by the National Health Authority, the event convened government officials, healthcare providers, insurers, and digital health experts to review India’s health assurance and digital health ecosystems. Nadda described AB PM-JAY as the world’s largest health assurance programme, noting it has covered more than 60 crore beneficiaries and facilitated over 13 crore hospital admissions, with treatments valued at more than Rs 2 lakh crore.

The scheme has recently expanded to include all senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of their socio-economic status. Nadda also emphasized the importance of portability within the scheme, which assists migrant workers in accessing care across different locations through digital support systems.
