The Festa das Neves marks the 441st anniversary of João Pessoa and runs a multi‑day program that includes the Tenda do Cordel, a free cultural pavilion held from 1 to 3 August at Parque Solon de Lucena. Organized by the Fundação Cultural de João Pessoa (Funjope) and backed by Mayor Leo Bezerra, the pavilion features poetry, music, and xilogravura. Cordelists such as Robson Jampa and Mané Gostoso and the internationally‑known xilogravurista Josafá de Orós performed on the opening day, and visitors can buy cordéis, prints, t‑shirts and other handcrafted items.

A comprehensive security operation supports the festivities. The Guarda Civil Metropolitana deployed more than 100 officers, working together with state security forces, Smart‑City cameras and a videomonitoring bus. The scheme is coordinated by the Secretaria de Segurança Urbana e Cidadania (Semusb) under Secretary João Almeida. Mayor Bezerra highlighted the event’s family‑friendly atmosphere and its role in showcasing the city’s cultural diversity.
