JPJ issues 14-day ultimatum for RM12.18 million in unpaid fines

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to 940 goods vehicle companies and five bus companies to settle RM12.18 million in outstanding traffic fines. The total amount stems from 40,595 unpaid summonses recorded between 2023 and 2026.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the department will take strict enforcement measures through ‘Op Tegar’ against repeat offenders. If the fines are not cleared within the specified timeframe, JPJ will collaborate with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to suspend the operating permits of the involved companies. Additionally, JPJ may impound vehicles found on the road until all dues are settled.

Among the companies identified with high numbers of unsettled summonses are KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd with 3,083, Mainiza Mantap Sdn Bhd with 889, and Boon Chin Transport Sdn Bhd with 767. Bus companies with significant outstanding fines include Cepat Express Sdn Bhd.
