JPJ seizes RM500,000 Jeep Wrangler in Kota Bharu
A businesswoman has recovered her Jeep Wrangler, valued at approximately RM500,000, after it was seized by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Kota Bharu for an expired road tax.
Following the seizure during 'Op Luxury' on September 24, the owner renewed the vehicle's Motor Vehicle License (LKM) earlier this week. JPJ Kelantan Director Mohd Misuari Abdullah confirmed that the vehicle was released once the renewal was completed.
The incident drew significant social media attention, with viral claims suggesting the road tax had not been updated since 2014. However, the businesswoman denied these allegations via TikTok, stating the payment was only one month overdue and suggesting that certain parties were intentionally exaggerating the issue.
JPJ's 'Op Luxury' is an ongoing nationwide enforcement operation targeting luxury vehicle owners who fail to comply with road regulations. Between June 2025 and September 26, the operation has resulted in the seizure of 3,790 luxury vehicles with an estimated total value of RM550 million.
