JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns Anthropic’s Mythos AI poses national‑security risk

JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon told the Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit that the Anthropic Mythos artificial‑intelligence model represents a “real issue” for national security. He warned that unrestricted access is “like giving ballistic missiles to individuals,” and said the U.S. government is closely monitoring the technology.

Anthropic released Mythos in April to a limited cohort that includes JPMorgan. The model’s ability to pinpoint software vulnerabilities has attracted banks, but U.S. regulators ordered Anthropic in June to restrict its most advanced models, Mythos 5 and Fable 5, for foreign nationals over security concerns. After the company added safeguards, the restrictions were lifted. Washington continues to increase oversight, fearing that powerful AI could be exploited by foreign intelligence services in China, Russia or other adversaries.
