JPMorgan expands corporate banking operations in Greece

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is expanding its operations in Greece by growing its global corporate banking division. According to internal memos cited by Bloomberg, the American bank aims to increase its service offerings to large and mid-cap companies within the Greek market.

Konstantinos Makrydakis has been appointed as the Head of Global Corporate Banking for Greece, overseeing coverage for major and medium-sized enterprises. Stelios Papadopoulos will continue in his role as Senior Country Officer for Greece, Cyprus, and Malta.

The expansion occurs amid a period of economic recovery in Greece. The country has regained investment grade status from all major rating agencies as of 2023 and saw its stock market upgraded to emerging market status by MSCI earlier this year. Economic indicators show Greece is growing faster than many other European economies, with unemployment reaching its lowest levels since 2008 and public debt decreasing rapidly.
