JPMorgan issues cautious US stock outlook amid AI and geopolitical risks

JPMorgan Market Intelligence reports that the impact of artificial intelligence on employment varies significantly by profession and task. While companies are integrating AI into business processes, the productivity gains from autonomous AI agents have reportedly fallen below expectations. In the software sector, employment is recovering, with increased demand for senior engineers and AI integration specialists.

Regarding financial markets, JPMorgan has lowered its short-term tactical outlook for US equities to ‘cautious/neutral,’ suggesting indices may move sideways in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the JPMorgan Markets e-Trading Survey 2026 indicates that institutional investors are increasingly focused on political and geopolitical risks. Approximately 41% of surveyed investors believe emerging and ongoing political tensions will be the most significant market drivers in 2026. Factors such as supply chain disruptions, economic nationalism, and US foreign policy are contributing to heightened macro volatility and uncertainty across various asset classes, including commodities.
