Deutsche Telekom faces SpaceX competition amid AI network advancements

Deutsche Telekom is navigating a dual landscape of technological progress and emerging competitive threats. In laboratory settings, a collaboration between Deutsche Telekom, Nokia, and NVIDIA has demonstrated that AI-based channel estimation can increase uplink throughput by 10 to 15 percent. While field tests with commercial systems are planned to validate these results in real-world conditions, the company faces market pressure regarding its US operations.

Investors have expressed concerns following reports that SpaceX is negotiating for at least 80,000 mobile sites and has acquired 800-MHz low-band spectrum. This potential entry of SpaceX into the US mobile market via Starlink is viewed as a significant competitive risk for established providers. Despite these concerns, Bank of America has raised its 2026 revenue and EBITDAaL estimates for Deutsche Telekom, largely driven by currency gains from a stronger US dollar.
