JPP criticizes Municipal Police proposal for Funchal

The JPP party has stated that the Municipal Police may serve as a useful tool, but cannot alone resolve issues such as parking, traffic, degraded sidewalks, public space maintenance, or social concerns.

In a statement by Fátima Aveiro and António Trindade, the party criticized the PSD for inconsistent positions regarding the implementation of the police force in Funchal. The JPP is demanding clarity on the proposed model, its specific competencies, and the concrete problems it aims to solve.

Furthermore, the JPP noted a political contradiction, pointing out that despite the Funchal City Council and the National Government sharing the same political affiliation, a definitive solution for these urban issues has yet to be implemented. The party maintains it will continue to advocate for better planning, increased inspection, and greater decision-making capacity to address the city's needs.
