JPYC circulation exceeds 2 billion yen, eyeing DeFi growth

The on-chain circulation of the Japanese yen-pegged stablecoin JPYC has exceeded 2 billion yen. As the asset expands its use cases from simple payments and remittances to decentralized finance (DeFi), industry focus is shifting toward the liquidity required to connect yen-based users with global markets.

To facilitate practical DeFi integration, analysts suggest that developing a JPYC/USDC liquidity pool is essential. A $1 million liquidity pool would enable mid-sized exchanges and vault deposits, while growth to the $3 million–$5 million range could support corporate fund transfers and larger swaps. Reaching $8 million to $10 million in liquidity would potentially enable institutional trading, lending, and on-chain foreign exchange markets.

As capital rotates toward the Ethereum network—evidenced by rising inflows of USDT and USDC—JPYC stands to benefit from increased access to settlement liquidity. Establishing a robust JPYC/USDC pair could effectively create a 24-hour on-chain yen-dollar market, bypassing traditional banking hours.
