JR Central to run Tokaido Lumiere Express overnight service

JR Central has announced the operation of the ‘Tokaido Lumiere Express’, a special overnight Shinkansen service, for the upcoming Silver Week holiday period. Following the success of a southbound run in August, this service will operate in the northbound direction from the night of September 22 through the following morning.

The train is scheduled to depart Shin-Osaka Station at 22:03, with subsequent stops at Kyoto Station (22:18) and Nagoya Station (22:54). It will stop at Shin-Fuji Station during the night, where passengers can access vending machines and smoking areas within the ticket gates, though they cannot exit the station. The service will arrive at Shin-Yokohama at 06:35, Shinagawa at 06:47, and Tokyo at 06:54.

Tickets are available through JR Central Tours. For the Shin-Osaka to Tokyo route, standard reserved seat prices are 17,000 yen for adults and 8,500 yen for children, while Green Car reserved seats are 23,000 yen for adults and 15,000 yen for children. This specific run will not feature women-only carriages.
