JR East to launch Mobile Suica Rinkai Line commuter passes in 2027

East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit announced that they will issue Mobile Suica commuter and student passes that cover only the Rinkai Line. The new tickets can be purchased and stored on a smartphone, eliminating the need to visit station ticket counters. The service will be available for any stretch between Shin‑Kiba and Osaki stations and is planned to start in the autumn of 2027, with further details on pricing and issuance to follow.

The rollout is part of a broader push toward cashless and ticket‑less travel, expanding JR East’s digital ticketing portfolio beyond existing inter‑operator passes.
