JR Kyushu has released a documentary video on its official YouTube channel, ‘Medama Channel’, chronicling the 52-day recovery process of the Kyushu Shinkansen following the Kumamoto earthquake on July 28, 2026.

The footage captures the intensive efforts of JR Kyushu employees, group companies, and partner organizations working through extreme summer heat to restore service. Key operations documented include daytime jack-up work to adjust massive bridge girders and precision nighttime track welding. The documentary includes interviews with frontline staff to highlight the technical challenges and the commitment to safety required to achieve full line resumption.
