Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR condemn AI deepfake video of ‘Chuttamalle’ song

Indian film industry stars have expressed widespread outrage following the viral circulation of an AI-generated deepfake video targeting actress Janhvi Kapoor. The manipulated clip uses footage from the song ‘Chuttamalle’ from the film Devara: Part 1, digitally altering Kapoor’s appearance to create sexually explicit and degrading imagery.

Actor Jr NTR, who starred in the original song, condemned the video as ‘disgusting, sick and shameless’ and vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for its creation and distribution. He also called on the Indian government to implement stricter regulations to prevent AI misuse. Janhvi Kapoor described the incident as a ‘criminal misuse of technology’ that borders on sexual assault, emphasizing the violation of bodily autonomy and consent.

Other prominent figures, including Megastar Chiranjeevi and actor Vijay Deverakonda, joined the condemnation, with Deverakonda calling the act the ‘digital equivalent of sexual assault’. Chiranjeevi indicated he would raise the matter with Telugu film industry bodies to establish support mechanisms for victims. Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar also voiced support for Kapoor, urging accountability for those who share such content. Meanwhile, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma criticized the celebrity reactions, suggesting they inadvertently provide publicity to the objectionable content.
