Jára Cimrman Theatre celebrates 60th anniversary in Příchovice

Hundreds of fans gathered in Příchovice to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jára Cimrman Theatre. The milestone commemorates the first mentions of the fictional genius Jára Cimrman in 1966.

The celebration included a parade in period costumes and the launch of a commemorative book titled ‘60 let vyprodáno’ (60 Years Sold Out). The event also coincided with the 90th birthday of actor Miloň Čepelka.

To mark the occasion, Czech Radio conducted a poll involving over 30,000 participants to select the most popular character from the theatre's repertoire. The winner was the character Vavroch, played by Zdeněk Svěrák in the play ‘Záskok’.
