The incident, which took place on a Thursday morning near Viksjö center, prompted a major police operation and led the municipality to urge parents not to let children walk to and from school alone. Security measures, including the deployment of guards and increased police presence, remain in place.

Prosecutor Oskar Hedström described the investigation as being in an “extremely sensitive stage,” noting that it is a high priority for the region. The suspect was apprehended following intensive surveillance and investigative work.
