Greece defeats Germany 1-0 in historic Nations League victory

Greece secured a historic 1-0 victory over Germany in an away UEFA Nations League match held at the WWK Arena in Augsburg. Dimitris Kourbelis scored the decisive goal in the 74th minute, capitalizing on a deflection to seal the win. This result marks the first time in history that the Greek national team has defeated Germany.

The defeat marks a difficult start for German head coach Jürgen Klopp, who has yet to secure a victory in his first two matches with the national team, following a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands. Despite controlling much of the possession, Germany struggled to convert dominance into scoring opportunities. German midfielder Joshua Kimmich expressed that a draw would have been a fairer result, while former player Bastian Schweinsteiger criticized the current squad for lacking elite-level players capable of making a difference.

With this win, Greece moves to the top of Group B with six points from two matches. Germany remains in third place with one point. Greece's upcoming matches include home fixtures against the Netherlands and Germany in Thessaloniki.
