Jérôme Guedj proposes higher inheritance taxes for estates over 2 million euros
Socialist deputy Jérôme Guedj has proposed increasing inheritance taxes on estates exceeding 2 million euros as part of his platform for the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at the Assises de l’Afer in Paris, Guedj stated that this reform aims to generate approximately 10 billion euros in additional annual revenue.
These funds would be specifically allocated to finance the autonomy branch of the Social Security system, which covers expenses related to loss of autonomy. This proposal marks a significant departure from other political figures; for instance, Édouard Philippe has suggested doubling certain donation allowances, while Bruno Retailleau advocates for measures that facilitate business transmission.
