Jérôme Pitorin leads France 5’s Bolivia special on Échappées Belles

France 5 rebroadcast a new episode of the documentary series Échappées Belles on 8 August 2026 at 21:00, titled “Bolivie, le défi des sommets”. Host Jérôme Pitorin trekked across Bolivia’s high‑altitude landscapes, covering the Cordillère Royale, the Salar de Uyuni salt desert, Lake Titicaca and parts of the Amazon forest. The programme highlighted the country’s indigenous Aymara and Quechua communities, the traditional cholita women, and the Andean cosmovision that respects the Pachamama. It also drew attention to environmental threats facing Lake Titicaca and featured a scientific mission to count freshwater dolphins in the Bolivian Amazon.

The episode, part of season 19, was produced by Vincent Chaffard and Bo Travail for France Télévisions. It showcases the challenging “roads of the impossible” and the cultural richness of Bolivia, offering French viewers a vivid portrait of the “Tibet of the Andes”.
