Arteriosclerosis symptoms often appear only during physical exertion
Arteriosclerosis, the accumulation of deposits in blood vessel walls, can remain asymptomatic during its initial stages. Because the condition can progress for years without causing discomfort, feeling healthy does not necessarily rule out its presence.
Symptoms often manifest as common disturbances that appear specifically during physical exertion or emotional stress and subside with rest. These include chest pressure or a sensation of constriction behind the sternum, which is characteristic of angina. Other potential indicators include shortness of breath during activity or unusual fatigue, though these symptoms can also stem from non-cardiac causes.
