JSW Motors to unveil Combat hybrid SUV in India

JSW Motors is preparing to enter the Indian automotive market as an independent manufacturer through a technology partnership with China-based Chery Automobile. The company is scheduled to unveil its first model, the JSW Combat, on December 3, 2026.

The Combat is a five-seater plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) SUV based on the Jetour T2. It is expected to feature a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 26.7kWh battery pack, producing a combined output of 381bhp and 610Nm of torque. The vehicle is anticipated to offer a combined range of over 1,000km.

Production is slated to take place at JSW’s facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. While the India-spec model may feature front-wheel drive rather than all-wheel drive, it is expected to include premium features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.6-inch digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, and adaptive cruise control. The SUV is expected to go on sale early next year, with estimated pricing ranging from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
