JSW Steel Italy receives 33 million euros for Piombino rail plant upgrade
JSW Steel Italy has received authorization for 32.96 million euros in non-repayable funding from Invitalia to modernize its railway rolling mill in Piombino. This public contribution, which includes 500,000 euros from the Tuscany Region, supports a total industrial investment of approximately 143.8 million euros funded by the Indian group.
The modernization project aims to nearly double the facility's production capacity. Currently, the mill produces 320,000 tons of rails annually. The investment will cover new machinery, technological plants, building interventions, and research and development activities.
While the funding is approved, construction cannot begin until urban planning variants are approved and building permits are issued. Once work commences, the company expects the intervention to take approximately 18 months to complete.
