JTEC Energy adopts Vaisala sensors for hydrogen waste-heat technology
JTEC Energy has selected Vaisala sensors to manage moisture levels in its hydrogen-based waste-heat-to-power conversion technology. The system is designed to convert industrial waste heat into electrical power with higher efficiency and at lower temperatures than competing methods.
The technology utilizes hydrogen as a working fluid, involving two subsystems with conflicting moisture requirements. Electrochemical stacks require humidified hydrogen for optimal membrane function, whereas metal hydride reactors must be protected from excessive moisture to prevent irreversible damage.
To maintain this balance, JTEC utilizes a closed-loop gas management system that recirculates more than 99.99 percent of introduced moisture. The integration of Vaisala DMP dew point probes provides the precise, industrial-ready measurements necessary to operate across varying humidity, pressure, and temperature ranges while meeting hazardous area requirements.
