Juan Ayuso finishes seventh in Tour de France, skips Vuelta a España

Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso, riding for the Lidl‑Trek team, placed seventh overall in the 2026 Tour de France, his best result in the race to date. He attempted a break on the Alpe d'Huez climb but lost time to defending champion Tadej Pogacar, who secured his fifth Tour victory.

Following the Tour, Ayuso announced he will not compete in the upcoming Vuelta a España, opting instead to recover and target the World Championships in Canada, with planned appearances in the Quebec and Montreal classics and later races such as the Giro di Lombardia and the Volta ao Algarve.
