Juan Ayuso targets gold at 2026 World Championships

Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso has expressed high ambitions ahead of the 2026 World Championships in Montreal, stating that he believes a gold medal is possible. After a challenging season characterized by illness, crashes, and a disappointing performance at the Tour de France, Ayuso reports that his preparation for the World Championships has been significantly better and that he has regained his competitive form.

Ayuso, alongside Enric Mas, is considered one of Spain's primary contenders for the elite men's race. He noted that the Spanish national team has already seen success in junior categories, with Héctor Álvarez winning two medals and Benjamín Noval being crowned junior world champion.

The upcoming elite race is expected to cover 274 kilometers with approximately 3,800 meters of elevation gain.
