Juan Bosch reflects on Trujillo family origins

The late politician and author Juan Bosch reflected on historical episodes that illustrate the socioeconomic background of the Trujillo family, whom he previously characterized as being of “second class” status. This analysis aligns with his work, “Trujillo: causas de una tiranía sin ejemplo,” which examines the origins of the dictator from San Cristóbal.

Bosch recalled personal family experiences from 1923, involving travels between La Vega and Santo Domingo in a one-ton Ford truck. Following the economic crisis of 1921-1922, which led to the closure of his father’s commercial firm, Gómez, Bosch y Compañía, his father, José Andrés Bosch Subirats, used the vehicle to transport produce from the La Vega Real Valley to the capital via unpaved roads.
