Juan Brunetta extends contract with Tigres until 2030

Argentine midfielder Juan Brunetta has signed a contract extension with Tigres, securing his position with the club until 2030. The player announced the news via a live Instagram broadcast, expressing his satisfaction with remaining at the Monterrey-based institution.

Following his arrival from Santos Laguna in early 2024, Brunetta has become a key offensive figure for the team. He recently reached a milestone of 50 goals for Tigres during a match against Pumas.

Reports indicate that the extension is intended to facilitate Brunetta’s path toward naturalizing as a Mexican citizen. Having played in Mexico for four years, he requires one more year of residency to begin the formal process. If successful, he would need to utilize FIFA’s ‘One Time Switch’ to represent the Mexican national team, as he previously played for Argentina’s U-23 side. Mexican national team coach Rafa Márquez has reportedly expressed openness to considering a player with Brunetta’s characteristics.
