Juan Carlos Alonso Gómez appointed new priest of Santiago el Mayor in Vigo

Juan Carlos Alonso Gómez has taken possession as the new parish priest of Santiago el Mayor in Vigo. The appointment, announced in July by Bishop Antonio Valín, follows Alonso Gómez’s previous role at the Santo Cura de Ars parish.

Alonso Gómez, who has over two decades of experience as a priest and previously served as a religion teacher, noted that the appointment came as a surprise. He expressed a commitment to observing and learning the specific needs of the Vigo parish to fulfill his duties. Regarding the current state of the faith, he remarked that while Catholic religion is at a minimum, he remains focused on the mission of transmitting its message.
