Juan Carlos Hidalgo elected president of Costa Rica's PUSC

Juan Carlos Hidalgo has been elected as the new president of the Social Christian Unity Party (PUSC) for the 2026–2030 term. The election took place during the party's National and General Assembly held at the Radisson Hotel in San José.

Hidalgo, a former presidential candidate, will lead the National Executive Committee (CEN) alongside Vice President Roxana Núñez, General Secretary Alejandro Pacheco, Treasurer Doris Martínez, and member Alex Bernardo Porras. The new leadership has been authorized to explore political coalitions and mergers for upcoming municipal and national elections to strengthen the party's structure and position.

A notable moment during the assembly was a public apology from the party to former President Miguel Ángel Rodríguez regarding his expulsion from the group in 2004. This move was described as addressing a historical debt to Rodríguez, who was present at the event.
