Juan Carlos I visits Sanxenxo with granddaughter Irene Urdangarin
Former King Juan Carlos I was seen in Sanxenxo, Galicia, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, accompanied by his granddaughter, Irene Urdangarin. The pair spent time on the auxiliary boat ‘Cristina’ to observe the Xacobeo Trophy sailing regatta in the Pontevedra estuary.
While Juan Carlos I did not participate in the regatta himself, he followed the competition, including the performance of the sailboat ‘Bribón’, which finished second in its category on Saturday. The event, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, features the 6 Metros and J/80 classes as part of the 2026 League.
This visit follows a recent trip to France where Irene Urdangarin accompanied her grandfather to an awards ceremony for his memoirs, ‘Reconciliación’.
