Juan Carlos Manríquez elected to ICC Bar Association executive council

Chilean criminal lawyer Juan Carlos Manríquez has been elected to the executive council of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Bar Association. Based in The Hague, the council is responsible for managing the association's operations and implementing its strategic guidelines.

Manríquez is the first Chilean lawyer to join this executive body, having been selected alongside five other jurists. A native of Chillán, Manríquez has an extensive career in high-profile litigation. His previous work includes representing various political figures and participating in significant judicial cases in Chile.

He holds a law degree from the University of Valparaíso and a master's degree from the California Western School of Law in the United States. His election occurred while he was in The Hague monitoring developments in the Venezuela I case before the ICC.
